The holidays beckon and the 2 Girls have given us the gift of a last episode in 2021. 

Episode 14 of season 7 starts off with pickleball, moves into Memmo and various announcements from Team Gushue and others. COVID is once again threatening the curling landscape, with clubs and events suspending plans. The Manitoba STOH is thoroughly discussed as is the final Olympic qualifier in the Netherlands. 

Once again, there’s a bonus to those who continue listening to the very end.

Episode 13 of season 7 is a grab bag of curling stuff, ranging from two Mixed Doubles qualifiers—one in Canada and the other in Holland—plus the Canadian Seniors, John Morris and Australia, and SNL on the EasyToys scandal.

And that’s just the beginning. Later on, The Girls discuss STOH puzzles, Manitoba, event cancellations, COVID (of course), the next Slam, Bruce Mouat and Team Shuster aka The Guys Who Get To Do Way Too Much Fun Stuff.

Lori and Mary conclude with a few thoughts on their previous episode, which proved to be incredibly popular.

2 Girls and a Game: 2021 Olympic Trials Part 2

 

The Girls are back with that tiebreaker and the playoff games from Saskatoon!

 

Episode 11 of season 7 is the second of a two-part series, breaking down Lori and Mary’s trip to the Canadian Olympic Trials in Saskatchewan.

The girls start with the epic second women’s tiebreaker, and their epic reactions were recorded live at the time from the arena! Then it’s another on-scene segment with Amy Nixon, the Olympic bronze medallist from 2006 who now serves in a Governors role with Curling Canada. 

Finally, the women’s and men’s finals are discussed before the 2 Girls leave town for home ... and to get busy editing this thing!

In the 9th Episode (Season 7) Lori and Mary chat about the opening weekend at the Olympic Trials:  surprises, wacky finishes, who is getting the early breaks and what teams are struggling so far.  The girls discuss the early texturing of the rocks and who benefits and who doesn't and is it really needed.  Lori and Mary talk about the sudden lineup change on team Dunstone and the importance of the 5th player.  The girls take a look at what else is happening in the curling world:  European Championships, USA Olympic Trials, World Jr Qualifier and the Guinness World record is broken!  Thank you for listening and please enjoy the episode!  Stay safe!

In the 8th Episode (season 7) Lori and Mary discuss their weekend in St Thomas at the senior qualifier with Team Rizzo and coach Lori onboard.  Attention turns to the latest Grand Slam: Boost National where the girls look at the results and who performed and didn't preform in the last major competition before the Olympic Trials.  Lori and Mary break down their picks for the trials into 3 categories:  Playoffs, Middle of the Road and Come Have a Drink with us at the Patch.  They also pick who they think will be the ultimate winner.  Warning: these are only guesses and participants and their loved ones are strongly advised not to listen to this episode!  Love and respect to all the teams!

Time for episode 7 of season 7! After some Halloween social appreciation, the Girls announce they will be attending this month’s Canadian Olympic Trials in Saskatoon.

The Canadian Pre-Trials qualifier is thoroughly discussed, with a look to how the recent qualifiers might fare in Saskatoon.

Then it’s on to the Americas Zone Challenge, the U.S. Mixed Doubles Trials, and the world wheelchair championship.

Lori and Mary also discuss Team Hasselborg’s social media campaign regarding the proposed rule changes.

Episode 3 of Season 7 starts with talk of "The Yips" and the eternal question: What makes a good curling webstream? The context continues with discussions about Canada’s Direct Trials Entry and Direct Pre-Trials Entry events in Ottawa.

After a break to discuss Switzerland’s men's Olympic Trials series and various tour developments, The Girls reconvene to dig into the Ottawa results compared to their pre-event predictions. It all wraps up with Headlines and stuff!

In the 2nd Episode (Season 7) Lori and Mary discuss Lori's first adventures on the curling ice and thoughts about the season with Alberta announcing their health crises and indoor sports being cancelled.  Keeping their optimism level high, the girls predict which teams will come out of the pre Olympic trial events in Ottawa this coming week.  Lori and Mary discuss some spiel results and the prize money that seems to have taken a beating since the pandemic.  Huge news announced by the WCF to look at potentially new rule changes to the sport of curling.  The girls discuss the immediate reactions from some of the players and they conduct an interview with Scott Arnold from the WCF to explain some of the rational that went into this decision.  Finally Lori and Mary announce the 2 prize winners for the Season 7 Giveaway contest!  Thank you for listening and please enjoy the episode.

In the final episode of the season, Lori and Mary are joined by Daryell Nowlan to recap the World Mixed Doubles Championships and discuss their thoughts on this crazy pandemic curling season. The girls and Daryell discuss the results, how Canada fared and their mutual admiration of the commentators.  Recently Brad Gushue had suggestions which could make Mixed Doubles more equitable.  Other topics in this episode include a debrief on the season, a crystal ball look into the upcoming season and what curlers have been up to.  There may even be a little dirty curling talk to round out the final episode of season 6!

On to episode 28 of season six. Lori and Mary start with all the discussion points from the first half of the world women’s championship in Calgary—the TV crew positives, the German positives, Canada’s struggles, coaches from different nations, eyeglasses and more. 

The 2 Girls then discuss their first-hand experiences with curling pressure before speaking with multiple STOH and world champion skip Colleen Jones. The legend focusses on her first worlds appearance with her new-at-the-time squad in 1999—which Jones describes as a “failure.” It’s a remarkable segment. 

The gals wrap up with some final notes.
